Julia is a writer, parent of a young adult and Quaker.  Before attending seminary in Indiana, she lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  While in Milwaukee, she owned a small cookie dough company and was a high school math teacher.  She is currently working on a compilation of essays about the emotional aspects of of disability.  In seminary, Julia focused her studies on biblical scholarship that explored the relationships between food, hospitality and grace.  Previous writing includes: an instruction book for navigating the first year of a serious medical condition (A Sharp Turn) and a memoir covering her final year in Milwaukee (This Sweet Life) and countless essays about food, religion, homemaking and hospitality.  Julia currently lives in Cincinnati with her husband.
